REVIEW: Red Mi A1 (unboxing, features, pros, cons, sample photos)
Hi guys! It’s been a while since I did a tech review. Today, we’ll be unboxing and reviewing the new Red Mi A1 from Xiaomi, an amazingly affordable phone that has great specs for its price of PHP 4,999 (introductory price of PHP 3,999 wow!)
WHERE TO BUY: Xiaomi on Lazada
Having a mobile phone on-hand is already a must-have in today’s society. When years ago it could only do text messages or calls, now it can connect us to anyone, anywhere! From social media to playing games or even watching our favorite movies or series via streaming apps.
For me? It’s like a part of my body already. My bloodline. My lifeline. It’s both for my personal use, and business use. Work and play. For students like Geof? To connect with his peers and teachers, and even do simple assignments.
Let’s be honest too, not everyone during these times can afford a super duper high-end phone. What if you can get something that can do everything you need, at a fraction of the cost right?
How does the new Xiaomi Redmi A1 fare? Let’s find out!

How it looks
The Xiaomi Red Mi A1 box comes with the unit, manual, and a type-A usb charger and cord. I got one in the color light blue which is quite easy on the eyes and doesnt look tacky at all.
How it feels
It’s quite light and comfortable to hold for a long time. It fits nicely on my small palms so that it won’t risk falling or dropping by accident. Smooth and feels premium despite the plastic chassis thanks to the grained texture of the back casing.
How it performs
Setup is a breeze! especially when transitioning from another android phone. All I had to do was link the two phones together via Wifi and the Xiaomi Redmi A1 did all the work for me. I just waited for the “setup to be completed”
The Redmi A1 comes with Android 12 Go Edition, a lighter-down version of Android 12 installed with essential ‘Go’ edition applications. This makes the phone run faster despite having a Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 processor.
For its price, the Redmi A1 does a great job of offering features that most consumers on a budget needs. It has an ergonomic design, decent battery life, and my favorite part – free from bloatware. Making it a practical choice for the working class, students, or those who are looking for a second phone like I do!
