PSA Skin Midnight Courage Review (Rosehip & Bakuchiol Retinol Night Oil)

I used around 2 drops of PSA Skin Midnight Courage (2,499 PHP/15 ml) on my face and neck today. Carefully massaging it using my favourite jade guasha, somehow bringing me to a trance state of mind. I’m writing a review because I’m half-way through the bottle, and it won’t inspire me any longer if I empty it and I don’t get another replacement bottle.

That is if I buy another one. Is it worth the repurchase? Does it really work to improve skin clarity, texture, and condition? Let’s find out.

Product Description

According to their website:

It is a night oil containing 2% advanced Retinoid, which removes all signs of premature aging and imperfections while firming the skin. This oil works overtime to refresh your skin as you sleep as part of your skincare routine.

It contains 2% Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, which helps to minimize hyperpigmentation and blemishes while also improving the appearance of fine lines and pore size.

This advanced Retinoid is also less irritating and more stable than other Retinol forms.

While antioxidant-rich oils like Organic Rosehip, Baobab, Pomegranate and Sunflower Oil help to brighten skin tone, strengthen skin barrier and improve moisture levels and retention.

Lastly, Bakuchiol (the plant-derived antioxidant that is often touted as being the natural alternative to Retinol for its similar skin cell-renewing effects), helps to improve skin elasticity, firmness, fade dark spots and diminish fine lines.

How to Use

PSA Skin Midnight Courage Review 14

Their official website and Sephora advice us to use a couple of drops on our palm, and gently press the oil on our entire face and neck. I always feel a little bit extra so I use either my guasha or jade roller to make sure it sinks in lol

PSA Skin Midnight Courage Review

I tried a lot of retinol focused products in different forms. From toners to lotions, to creams, gels, and serums. Toners felt too strong on my skin, especially with its alcohol base. Creams felt too heavy while gels and serums leave an uncomfortable sticky film afterwards. PSA’s Midnight Courage is formulated with a 2% retinoid (quite high!) in an oil base. Making it easy to apply, without the icky feeling.

PSA Skin Midnight Courage Review 13

I’ve been using this product for more than 2 months now and my bottle is still half full (or half-empty lol). A few drops is all you need. The packaging comes in a chic bottle with a free dropper. But I don’t think the dropper was necessary, and will just waste more product so I didn’t use it. It’s better to get those drops straight from the bottle to your palm.

My skin significantly looked plumper, and glossier. No, not the shine because of the oil. It still looks like that even after I wash my face. My face looks just like what it was when I was 18. No kidding. Not exaggerating. That’s the power of retinol. You just have to find the best formulation for you and stick with it.

I didn’t experience any breakout or irritation. Though I read in other reviews that they found this too harsh for them especially when partnered with other actives and acids. What I do, to lessen the irritation is use my Pixi Glow Tonic (AHA) in the morning plus sunscreen, and then use Thayér’s Rosewater Toner at night to pair up with this one.

Results? Magical.

Will I buy again? Highly probable, but the skincare addict in me is curious to try other brands/types of retinol solutions lol.. but if they fail.. I’d definitely go back to this one
