Personal musings: Coloring outside the lines
I remember it clearly when I was 4, my teacher told my mom that I need to stay longer at school, because I drew random things, and colored outside the lines. I also used the color blue instead of purple in grapes
She told me to make sure I keep the color inside the lines, and use the “correct colors”
Today I realized, how ironic it is, to teach Art, only to subject your class to rules, and restrict creativity.
Sure, you can say “Hey you can try using purple for grapes” or “You can draw your squiggly lines in another sheet”
But no. Dont do this. Dont do that. Stay inside the lines. Stay inside your lane.
They teach us one thing at an early age.
They teach us to OBEY.
