Manzanilla Oil: Uses, Benefits, and my Personal Experience
Eons and eons of years ago, I remember having the worse stomachache of my life when I was 5, and I remember my Lola putting me comfortably to sleep by massaging Manzanilla Oil on my belly. The relaxing scent of Chamomile the warmth of the oil brings so many good memories. That’s why today, now that I’m a mother myself (and a segurista mom, mind you!), I keep a bottle in hand not just for tummy-aches but for instant calming relief for other discomforts as well!
Did you know that manzanilla oil is not just for babies but for kids and even adults as well? On today’s blog, I’ll be sharing with you the many benefits of this oil, plus my personal experience and honest review of IPI Aceite de Manzanilla.
Manzanilla Oil: Uses, Benefits, and My Personal Experience
What is Manzanilla Oil?
Aceite de manzanilla (oil of Chamomile) is the Spanish name for the oil-based form of Chamomile in Latin America and the Caribbean. It is often used as an antiflatulent to help relieve stomach pain and nauseousness. It’s natural and perfectly safe to use for all ages.
A trusted brand of mine is IPI Aceite de Manzanilla. It’s and can be found in your friendly neighbourhood drugstore or supermarkets near you.
Ingredients
A bottle of IPI Aceite De Manzanilla consists of 500mg of Chamomile Oil and Mineral Oil.
Benefits of Manzanilla Oil
- Anxiety relief and natural anti-depressant
- Easing skin conditions like eczema or rashes
- Anti-inflammation and pain relief for conditions like back pain, neuralgia, or arthritis
- Promoting sleep
- Relief for discomforts such as muscle ache, cough, cold, fever, and colic
A simple reminder that everyone is different, especially our skin. Some could be more sensitive than others. So if you experience any discomfort or rashes, stop using and consult a doctor immediately.
How do you put Aciete de Manzanilla?
Just a few drops are all you need in areas that need attention. For example, you can use two drops and rub gently on the temples of your child’s forehead (or yours) to promote sleep and relaxation, while 4 drops gently massaged on the back or tummy for pain relief. It can also be rubbed on arms, feet, and legs.
Manzanilla Misconception
It’s so weird that upon doing a bit of google-research, hearsays and misconceptions are accusing Aceite De Manzanilla to cause Pneumonia or flu. As a segurista mom, it’s crucial that we know how to distinguish facts from fake news and trust scientific experts who have already years of credible experience.
First of all, Aceite De Manzanilla is simply oil from Chamomile extracts, and Chamomile doesn’t cause illnesses – viruses and bacteria do. Here’s a bit of info I learned from this CDC’s (centre for disease control) research:
Fact: There are two types of Pneumonia, bacterial and viral
Bacteria like Streptococcus pneumoniae cause bacterial Pneumonia, and symptoms could include high fever, shortness of breath, and cough. It is usually treated with antibiotics (with a doctor’s prescription!), and symptoms usually improve within 12 to 36 hours.
Viruses like influenza cause viral Pneumonia, and those infected can inhibit symptoms like joint pains, runny nose, cough, tiredness, chills, and fever. This kind of Pneumonia cannot be treated with antibiotics. Instead, doctors may prescribe antiviral medications or even immunizations to help prevent it from affecting your child’s body.
My Experience
Okay, I might be sharing too much with this story, but it has to be told as a learning experience for moms like me. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, Nacho Kid experienced high fevers, nausea, exhaustion, and stomach pains. You know how it feels when you know how your child is usually cheerful and perky, and seeing them in pain is not the best feeling in the world, and you can only hope it was you suffering instead of them 🙁
I immediately consulted an online pediatrician, and she prescribed medicines like paracetamol for fever, ginger tea for nausea, and cold medicines for his cough (my constant reminder always to consult an expert and not just random info you can find online).
Nacho kid was still in pain despite the medicines, and of course, in situations like this, giving our child relief from their discomfort is a HUGE help. IPI Aceite de Manzanilla is made from Chamomile Oil, and Chamomile is known for the benefits I mentioned above, like relaxation and relief from pain with its anti-inflammatory effects.
So whenever he felt extra “tense” during those days, I massage a few drops on his temples, back, and stomach, and it helps give him the relief he needs. See his happy giggling photo below! Personally, I love how relaxing it smells! Even I felt relaxed and ready to sleep afterwards too 🙂
Final Thoughts
IPI Aceite De Manzanilla is great to have in hand in your first aid cabinet. It offers many benefits, and it’s pretty affordable for the wallet too. It’s definitely not just for kabab, and it helps boost our mother’s touch; that’s a great bonding experience for parents with their children. It’s a safe, natural, and gentle discomfort solution TRUSTED by many generations. It’s so affordable pa so what are you waiting for? 🙂
Price: A 25ml is 14php, 50ml is 21php, and 100ml is 39php SRP

Thanks for the info, Mommy. Ito din ginagamit ko sa baby ko lalo pag nakabag sya or masakit ang tyan nya. And ako ginagamit ko din sya to calm me in my anxiety and sobrang effective and relaxing nya. I have acid reflux now and feeling ko antigas ng tyan ko kaya nagpahid ako. Di rin kasi ako nakakatulog dahil sa acid ko, sumabay pa anxiety dahil sa acid, jusko super hirap. Di ako makahiga kasi ang hirap huminga. Then nung nagpahid ako, parangmagic, umokey agad tyan ko and nawala yung anxiety ko. Nakakarelax talaga sya. Di na din ako uminom ng antacid ko kasi ok naman na pakiramdam ko. Thanks to manzanilla talaga. 🙂

I use Manzanilla when I feel bloated. It is also very good for muscle pains. I felt pain in my left neck today and thought of applying aceite Manzanilla, and pain was gone in less than a minute after massaging the oil!!
