Makati Shangri-la Hotel Staycation Room Review (Horizon Deluxe King)

I had to attend a PLDT Christmas Party, on a Friday, on Holiday season, and I dont want to waste my time stuck in traffic. So Rems and I decided to have a staycation at Makati Shangri-la. The party was held at Circles Bar anyway so might as well.

I forgot to take loads of photos, writing a feature on my blog wasn’t on my mind. But I was able to shoot a full room tour video so I uploaded it on my Youtube channel for your satisfaction.

Room: Horizon Deluxe King

Room Rate: 14995php per night

Checking in was a breeze. I had a PWD ID and the attendant who was assigned to me, his name was Moses, was very kind, patient, and attentive. The checkin process was done in less than 20 minutes? I had to sign a few paperwork for the PWD discount. Yes if you have a PWD ID you get discounts at hotel stays, anywhere in the Philippines.

Room Tour – Horizon Deluxe King

Review

The attendant told us he gave us a free upgrade, from a Deluxe King Room, they gave us a “Horizons Club” Deluxe King Room. I don’t know the difference because this was the first time we checked in Makati Shangri-la hotel.

Honestly? During the afternoon, I liked how the room looked. It was clean. Bedsheets brand new. Toiletries are L’Occitane, complete with a fridge, spaceious bed, and high ceiling.

Unfortunately, the high ceiling, with weird shapes (forgot to take a photo sorry) gave me anxiety at night, and I had a hard time sleeping. It felt like I was staying in an old room, with ghosts and such. Maybe it’s just my weird brain making up things. It gave me the creeps. My boyfriend loved our room.

We were too lazy to dine outside, despite it being walking distance to several malls like Glorieta and Greenbelt. The location of Makati Shangri-la hotel was perfect because it’s situated in the center of the Makati CBD.

We had a tapa breakfast set, with rice and danggit. The photo on their menu showed it comes with bread, butter and jam, but the one served to use doesnt include it. I got a little bit disappointed.

For dinner, we had a medium well steak and pumpkin soup. It came with mashed potato, and surprisngly, came with a lot of bread. LOL. It had too much salt, and we got spoonfulls of rice each bite. It wasn’t as tender as the steaks you eat ouside like Mamou etc, but it was good enough for its price (1995 for a 300g tenderloin?)

My favorite part of our staycation was the Buffet Breakfast at Circles. It had one of the most diverse and generous breakfast spreads I’ve seen so far, and they were not just plenty, the food also tasted good. Not mediocre. I had 3 toasted croissants, a slice of Christmas Ham, some bacon, and 6 pieces of fresh Mangosteen fruit. Yes guys, they have Mangosteen!

Ryan on the other hand, got bacon, rice, pizza, and coffee.

If only our tummies were an endless pit, I wouldve loved to try everything in the buffet spread. But we are not gluttons. So we just ate what we want and what we can.

Final thoughts

Ryan loved staying at Makati Shangri-la hotel, and told me we can visit here again. I for one have second thoughts. Maybe I’ll request for one of the newly renovated rooms instead? I saw all the rooms in the Horizon floor seem dated. Or, we might give Edsa Shangri-la a visit next time 😉
