Where to find vegan restaurants and options in La Union

Hello! I am not vegan, but for my work as a journalist in Viable Earth, I’m a member of Manila Vegans. One of the posts share a list of vegan restaurants and restaurants with vegan options in La Union, Philippines. So if you’re a vegan and plan to travel in the area, here’s a list of places where you can dine.

1. Buhay Gulay – vegan / vegetarian. super love their bbq! (San Fernando)

2. Haribowl – all vegan except for their ice cream. Love their Chickn Inasal, Siopao and Nachos! (San Fernando)

3. The Circle Hostel – love their mushroom katsu! most of their menu are vegan friendly (San Juan)

4. Seawadeeka – has vegan options: pad thai, tofu curry etc.- (San Juan)

5. Seabuds – smoothie bowls, vegan breakfast meals, breads etc (San Juan, inside San juan surf)

6. Funky Quarters – Mushroom Tacos and Mushroom Buritto Bowl (rice is not vegan so ask for a plain rice or ask to change for kamote tortilla. the white sauce is not vegan but the chimichuri and sambal is vegan) San Juan)

7. Little Canggu – Nasi Goreng and Mi Goreng, Tempeh Satay (tell them to make it vegan, mushroom balls is vegan. you can ask them to remove the egg as well) (San Juan)

8. Nak Nak – Mushroom & Tofu Adobo, Veggie Curry (ask them to replace the chicken to tofu), Pancit (replace meat to tofu and no oyster sauce) (San Juan)

9. Dabowl Wonder – Vegan Sumpia (San Juan)

10. Herbivora – no physical restaurant (for pre – order only but superr good! they deliver their food as well and has weekly meal plans. love their dynamite teriyake rolls)

11. Masa Bakery – Hummus, Kamote Doughnuts, Pan Base Sourdough, Pan Marangya, Shakshouka ask them to make vegan version (San Juan)

12. El Chapos – Classic Horchata! (San Juan)

13. Kahatea – Milkteas, Fruit Teas, Coffee ! They have La Union flavor Milk tea, only available here in LU! (San Fernando)

14. Makai Bowls – Smoothie bowls, mushroom sandwiches etc. (Inside Great Northwest – San Juan)

15. Kermit – Vegan Pizza, Aglio Olio (Inside Great Northwest – San Juan)

16. Coco Mama – Vegan ice cream (Inside Great Northwest – San Juan)

17. Waffle Joint – waffles & juices (San Fernando)

18. Tagpuan – Bibimbap (ask them to remove the egg and you can buy additional tofu instead)

19. Kape De Arko – Empanada, Paella, Pasta etc. All vegan except for their soft serve ice cream. So good! (in front of San Juan Public Market)

20. Curo – Vegan breakfast plates, Muesli Bowls etc (inside Curbside Villa San Juan)

21. Nourished – Rice Bowls, Smoothie Bowls, Smoothies (Port San Juan, in front of Kahuna Hotel, San Juan)

22. Bebos Bombay Burrito – Aloo Gobi, Mushroom Tandoori (Port San Juan)

23. 8am Cafe – Vegan Pastries & Desserts! Lovee their snickers & choco mousse cake (San Juan, Inside Tavern by the Sea)
